Program Title
Hyper-Agile Documentation: A Case Study
Description
Some software companies react to development problems by throwing in more and more agility. But this doesn't always work, explains Dave Powell, a self-described "traditional documentarian," who compares his first encounter with hyper-agile development to diving off the high board into an above-ground swimming pool filled with ice water. Finding himself in a development environment that changed its products every second and that had no time for doc reviews, he realized that the doc precepts he'd held dear for 15 years no longer applied.
Dave Powell describes:
* How he kept his head above water.
* What he had to sacrifice in order to keep his head above water.
* Why readers of his doc sent compliments to the company within a month of his arrival.
He warns that ISO 9000, Re-Engineering the Corporation, Six Sigma, and even Agile, can be deadly when mishandled.
