The competitions are complete and the winning entries are chosen.

We are now planning the STACIES, which is the February program to present the awards. Stay tuned for more information about the STACIES.

We hope you will join us in acknowledging the winning entries.

Chapter Competitions

Entrants' Registration

Registration Central is our online registration system for the Boston-Northern New England competitions. When you log in to Registration Central, you'll see your personalized home page showing all of your competition activity. From your home page, you can register entries or sign up to judge in any of the competitions.

Like to see samples? Check out Entry Samples on the Entrants Overview page.

"Notes to Judges" section

In the "Notes to Judges" section of the registration form, enter any information that will help judges to review your entry. Please be brief (maximum 3,000 characters, or approximately one page).

Examples of information judges will need:

  • Background information that puts the judge in a real-life user's shoes. Judges are probably unfamiliar with the product that your entry documents, so if appropriate, provide some brief context.
  • Instructions for using the hardware your entry is displayed on, if necessary.
  • Instructions for finding or launching your entry, if necessary. (Remember that someone may inadvertently shut down the machine and need to restart.)
  • Unusual or noteworthy features that judges may overlook if you don't point them out.

The "Notes to Judges" replaces the "Scenario" that some of you may remember. For entries that will be judged on site, you may print a page of additional instructions to leave next to your entry when you set up on competition day.

Before you register:

  • Make sure you've read the Entry Fees page and the Delivering Entries page for the competition you are entering:
  • Prepare the information you will provide about your entry. On your entry registration you will need to provide phone and e-mail address of a contact person, specify method of paying the entry fee, select the competition you are entering and category of your entry, enter the company the work is prepared for, provide the title and brief description of audience and purpose, indicate how you will deliver your entry, and provide names of contributors.
  • Know what category your entry will be assigned to.

IMPORTANT: Please prepare this information before registering your entry. Once you submit your registration, you will not be able to revise the information.

When you are ready to register:

  1. Go to Registration Central.
We recommend that you use Internet Explorer on a Windows machine. You should make sure that cookies are enabled in your browser settings.

  2. Create a new account.
You must create a new account even if you registered in last year's competitions. You can use this account to register as many entries in as many competitions as you want. You can also use the account for registering to judge. Your existing STC account will not work.

IMPORTANT: Write down or remember your user name and password. The next time you visit Registration Central, you will need them to log in.

  3. Click Add Entry.
Follow the instructions provided by the Entry Wizard. Fill in all of the required information and select a delivery method for your entry. You may choose to pay online using your PayPal account or you can pay by check.

  4. Click Register This Entry.
A confirmation page displays your entry information. Please print this page to save for your records.

  5. Receive your confirmation e-mail.
For each entry you register, you will receive an automated message at the address provided in your contact person information. The message will contain your entry information and instructions for delivering the entry.

Your e-mail confirmation will include an attachment. You will need printed copies of the attachment if you are paying by check or if you are mailing entries to the Technical Publications or Technical Art competition.

For more information, see the Entry Fees page and the Delivering Entries page for the competition you are entering:
